Raymond Siew
Managing Partner & Principal
As an entrepreneur, Raymond’s firsthand knowledge and personal insights are distilled from his 21-year exposure in the corporate arena and hands-on experience as a dealmaker in both local and foreign corporate environments, which include Fortune 500 as well as public-listed companies.
Raymond graduated from City & East London College in Optics and worked for Dollond & Aitchison (UK), the largest optical house in Europe with over 600 branches in the UK; he also worked in For Eyes, the fastest-growing optical chain in the UK during the late ’80s and also the first optical house to go for public listing. Shortly after returning to Malaysia in the 1990s, Raymond shifted focus from the optical industry and he started his own Construction and Interior Design company.
In 1997, Raymond was Corporate Projects Director of a multinational development company with projects in Australia, China, Laos, Papua New Guinea and Malaysia. His portfolio covered the group’s construction subsidiaries in Malaysia with the brief to coordinate with key personnel to identify and negotiate corporate-level contracts in Malaysia.
Raymond started EMasters in 2002 and is currently responsible for the development of EMasters and her suite of services, partnerships & assets. He writes the Walking The Road Less Traveled blog, documenting his journey in exploring M Scott Peck’s seminal works on Community Building in Business.
He also developed a successful business model for designbyshoi.com …and is now in the process of advancing nusantaracollection.com, where he undertakes business development for their online store and It’s My Life lifestyle e-magazine.
Raymond was the Mind Coach (non-technical) for the Malaysian Chess Team. However, Raymond’s favorite game remains bridge.
Shoi-Yean Mak
Partner
Shoi is a professional designer and an experienced project manager. She has been designing for micro & small businesses and brands in the US for over two decades.
In the mid-1980s, Shoi was an admin assistant in the BBC UK’s Politics & Current Affairs News Room. She then moved on to manage a London-based fashion house, coordinating their businesses worldwide — from manufacturing in China to retail outlets all across Europe and the US. When she returned to Malaysia in the ’90s, she also ran her own interior design company before starting EMasters with Raymond Siew in 2002.
Shoi currently heads Design by Shoi, a web & graphic design boutique. Design by Shoi has been offering custom-crafted design solutions to micro & small businesses and brands in the US & Canada since 2002. Her forte is designing elegant websites, online stores and visual branding.
She also curates for Nusantara Collection, an online fashion & lifestyle store… and is the editor of It’s My Life, their lifestyle e-magazine.
When she’s not designing, Shoi indulges in her passions: fashion, movies, books, pretty things, her cat Angel, her son Mark. She loves an occasional evening out with good company, good conversation & good food—preferably all at the same time.
Yusuf Abdul Rahman
Legal Adviser
Yusuf graduated with LLB (Hons), University of Malaya in 1981. He first started his career as Legal Officer of PETRONAS, and then was Legal Adviser and Company Secretary of The Pacific Bank Berhad.
As Manager of Corporate and Legal Affairs — and subsequently General Manager of Corporate Affairs — at Faber Merlin Malaysia Berhad and Landmarks Holdings Berhad (both public listed companies), Yusuf was in charge of corporate restructuring and recovery of the respective groups. He was also in private practice and later General Legal Counsel of the Hopetech Group of Companies and CEO of the Songgoritty Group.
Yusuf is a member as well as past Hon. Secretary of Suarah Petroleum Group. He is now Chairman and Director, Legal and Corporate Affairs of Rareum Bhd, Suarah Petroleum Ventures Bhd and Lyric Labs Sdn Bhd. He is also CEO/Chief Consultant of Rareum Consultancy Group PLT, a corporate recovery and management consultancy.
In addition to being well-versed in oil & gas law, mining law, banking & corporate law, land law & IT law amongst others, he has also been involved in business development of innovative high tech eco-friendly sustainable solutions in engineered wood for building, nano-metals manufacturing, blockchain technology, IT solutions, translation services, oil and gas and agro-industry.
